Admission to the Master degree programs at the Center for Molecular Biology requires the completion of a relevant Bachelor degree or another equivalent degree at a recognized domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution, provided that such a degree is fundamentally equivalent to the Bachelor degree program in Biology (majors "Microbiology and Genetics" or "Molecular Biology") at the University of Vienna.

The overall equivalence is established by comparing the coursework at the applicant's home university with the courses offered in the Bachelor degree program in Biology (specifically, focal areas "Microbiology and Genetics" or "Molecular Biology") at the University of Vienna. If the overall equivalence is established and only individual courses are missing, such additional courses (in German: Auflagen) can be prescribed as a condition for admission to the Master program at the University of Vienna. If the required workload for such additional courses does not exceed 30 ECTS credits, the candidate is admitted to the Master program and must complete the required courses during the studies. The additional courses necessary to achieve overall equivalence are determined by the responsible academic body on a case-by-case basis.

Master Access Guides (MAG) can be used to find out if the coursework at your home university is overall equivalent to the requirements for the Master degree program at the University of Vienna. If your home university is NOT listed in the Master Access Guide for the respective Master program, the equivalence will be established on a case-by-case basis when you submit your documents to the Admissions Office.
